Pom poko è la favola dello scontro tra la moderna urbanizzazione e la natura. Un gruppo di Tanuki abitanti delle colline Tama è costretto ad abbandonare le case a causa del rapido sviluppo e della costruzione di nuovi edifici e centri commerciali. Visto che diventa sempre più difficile trovare cibo e rifugio, decidono di lottare tutti insieme per preservare il loro habitat. I Tanuki hanno perfezionato l'antica arte della trasformazione fino a potersi muovere come gli esseri umani su due gambe. Usano così questi poteri per limitare l'avanzamento dell'urbanizzazione. Ma sarà sufficiente?
