Nella cittadina di Nome, la slitta di Balto non è piú l'unica a consegnare la posta, ora c'è anche un aereo. Per vedere qual'è il mezzo piú veloce viene organizzata una gara tra la slitta capitanata da Balto e l'aereo, pilotato da Duke. Ma il velivolo sparisce misteriosamente e, anche se molti cani sembrano esserne felici, Balto teme sia successo qualcosa di grave e decide di partire in soccorso. Grazie all'aiuto di Boris, Muc e Luc l'intrepido Balto riesce a salvare Duke. Come premio per il suo gesto eroico Balto potrà realizzare il suo piú grande sogno: volare e vedere il modo al di sopra delle nuvole.
