L'azione prende le mosse dalla morte di uno dei personaggi più discussi del secondo dopoguerra: Eva Peron, ex attrice e moglie di Juan Domingo Peron, il leader populista che, a più riprese, ha tenuto il potere in Argentina negli anni Quaranta e Cinquanta. Morta nel 1952 a soli 33 anni Evita aveva saputo condizionare in modo incredibile il favore della masse meno abbienti garantendo così il potere al marito.
