Pasqualino è un poveraccio che commette un delitto d'onore. Per questo motivo viene chiuso in un manicomio criminale, ma esce a causa della guerra. Viene catturato e finisce in un lager tedesco dove commette un altro omicidio. Alla fine delle ostilità ritorna in una Napoli tragicamente euforica che festeggia l'arrivo degli alleati.
