Nell'Australia dei pionieri un ragazzino e una ragazzina vivono a poca distanza uno dall'altro, ma tra loro il solco sociale è incolmabile. Lui infatti è il figlio di contadini poverissimi, lei la ricca ereditiera di una potente famiglia.
