Archive 81 – Universi alternativi ci porta nella vita di Dan Turner che nella vita lavora come archivista in un museo, specializzato nel recuperare e restaurare vecchie cassette. Un giorno viene contatto da un misterioso imprenditore che gli assegna l’incarico di restaurare delle cassette di un documentario amatoriale di una studentessa, rimaste danneggiate nel 1994 a seguito di un incendio. Nello stesso anno in cui anche Dan ha perso tutta la sua famiglia in un incendio...
