Un piccolo circo, che ha come attrazione principale un elefante di nome Jumbo, rischia il fallimento anche perché il padrone ha una passione sfrenata per il gioco dei dadi. Ma il rischio più grande, in realtà, è che un pezzo grosso del settore lo compri per annetterlo al suo megacircuito. Quest'ultimo però ha un figlio che s'è innamorato della figlia del padrone del piccolo circo e allora le cose non saranno più così semplici. Musical un po' stanco ma quasi commovente con l'apporto di alcuni maestri assoluti: canzoni di Rodgers e Hart, coreografie di Busby Berkeley (al suo ultimo lavoro).
