Michael Wazowski ha sempre saputo che sarebbe diventato uno spaventatore e per questo, fin da quando era un piccolo mostro, ha coltivato con costanza il sogno di iscriversi alla Facoltà di Spavento della Monsters University. Peccato che, proprio quando il suo desiderio sta per realizzarsi, l'incontro con il prepotente James P. Sullivan, compagno di studi, rischia di mandare a monte i suoi piani.
