In un'America devastata da un conflitto nucleare, nel 2013, un solitario ex attore indossa la giacca di un postino morto, si autopromuove portalettere e distribuisce la corrispondenza abbandonata prima della guerra. A poco a poco la gente si sente rinascere, scrive, consegna le missive, nasce una specie di esercito di non-violenti che si muovono contro il crudele generale nazistoide Bethlehem.
