Il piccolo Matt Murdock è cresciuto assieme ad un padre pugile, talmente forte da farsi chiamare "Devil", ma non abbastanza tenace da evitare loschi affari malavitosi. Quando Matt scopre che il papà è al servizio del boss cittadino, fugge via deluso. È l'ultima cosa che vede perché un incidente con un materiale radioattivo lo rende cieco, potenziandone tutti gli altri sensi. Il pentimento porta suo padre sulla via della redenzione, ma il regolamento di conti è dietro l'angolo e un genitore ucciso davanti ai propri occhi può traumatizzare anche un non vedente. Il desiderio di giustizia è forte tanto quanto la sete di vendetta. Così Matt diventa avvocato di giorno e Daredevil di notte, supereroe punitore che veste i panni di giudice e giuria.
