C'era una volta l'età della pietra, quando gli uomini stavano nelle caverne per proteggersi dalle bestie feroci e trovare di cosa cibarsi significava rischiare la vita. Tutto era molto diverso, allora, tranne ... l'adolescenza. Eep è la figlia maggiore dei Croods e non ce la fa più ad accontentarsi della mera sopravvivenza; vuole uscire, curiosare, in una parola: vivere. Perché mai tutto ciò che è nuovo dev'essere considerato letale? Eep proprio non se lo spiega e, quando incontra Guy, si mette al suo seguito, rivoluzionando la propria esistenza e quella di tutta la famiglia.
