Lo trovano alla piovosa stazione londinese di Paddington, tutto solo sotto l'insegna degli oggetti smarriti, i signori Brown e i loro figli Jonathan e Judy. Con loro, Paddington trova un nome, una casa e una famiglia, ma saranno soprattutto i Brown a scoprire di aver bisogno di Paddington almeno quanto lui ha bisogno di loro.
