Un astronauta riceve un messaggio dalla piattaforma che ruota intorno al pianeta Solaris. Stanno accadendo cose inspiegabili. Si decide di inviarlo in missione. Trova così che a bordo ci sono state morti violente ma, soprattutto, che il pianeta ha la forza di materializzare l'inconscio degli umani facendo comparire le persone che vivono nella loro mente. Ricompare cosi'la moglie e per lui sarà sempre più difficile liberarsi dalla sua presenza che sa essere non umana.
