Per i tre quattordicenni, Kyle, Eric e Brad, la vita trascorre monotona. Non parlano con le ragazze, ascoltano musica rock e trascorrono gran parte del loro tempo in una capanna nel bosco. È qui che un giorno si trovano di fronte Luke, un uomo ferito e con una pistola, che asserisce di essere un poliziotto in fuga perché perseguitato da dei poliziotti corrotti. I ragazzi, per sfuggire al tedio della loro vita, credono all'improbabile storia e prestano soccorso all'uomo.
