Life on Mars

Nel 2006 l'ispettore capo Sam Tyler della Polizia di Manchester è alle prese con casi vorticosi e angoscianti, che sembrano riflettere la piega irrisolta della sua stessa vita. Sulle tracce di un maniaco assassino seriale, scopre che la sua collega ed ex fidanzata, Maya, è stata rapita dallo stesso ed è in pericolo di vita, ma proprio mentre è appena sceso dalla sua macchina viene investito da un’auto in corsa. Al suo risveglio le cose non saranno più come una volta: dopo un attimo iniziale di smarrimento per l’aspetto evidentemente diverso del luogo in cui credeva di essere, viene catapultato in un commissariato di polizia che dovrebbe essere il suo, ma non lo sembra. Il detective capo del commissariato, il rozzo Gene Hunt , lo informa finalmente che si trova nell’anno 1973. La serie ha dato origine allo spin-off Ashes to Ashes, ambientato nei primi anni ottanta.

1	Stagione 1	La prima stagione di Life on Mars è basata sull’arrivo e sull’ambientamento di Sam, il protagonista, nel 1973. Ogni episodio è apparentemente incentrato su un singolo caso poliziesco da risolvere, ma il vero fulcro delle vicende sembra essere il rapporto di Sam con sua madre e suo padre, piccolo criminale la cui improvvisa sparizione è sempre stata un mistero per l’uomo. Alcuni fantasmi del passato e immagini indecifrabili radicate nella sua memoria dal giorno del suo quarto compleanno, avvenuto proprio nel 1973, riemergeranno e si chiariranno nel finale di stagione.	2006	8	D
