Il magnate Max Zorin vuole provocare un terremoto che distrugga Silicon Valley per detenere il monopolio della produzione mondiale di microchip e imporre così le proprie leggi di mercato. James Bond riesce a mandare a monte i piani del criminale. Con l'aiuto, naturalmente, di bellissime donne e con la benedizione, per una volta, persino del Kgb. Ultimo 007 dell'era Roger Moore, con l'attore un po' stanco e troppo spesso (visibilmente) sostituito dalle controfigure. Confezione da fumettone supertecnologico, con un cattivo ariano ottimamente interpretato da Walken, una virago abbagliante come Grace Jones e una delle Bond Girls più trascurabili dell'intera serie, Tanya Roberts. Bello il finale sul ponte di San Francisco e l'inseguimento su e giù dalla Tour Eiffel.
