L'infanzia di Lawrence Talbot termina la notte in cui sua madre muore. Dopo aver lasciato il misterioso villaggio di Blackmoor, passa decenni cercando di dimenticare e di riprendersi dalla tragedia. Ma quando la fidanzata di suo fratello, Gwen Conliffe, lo rintraccia affinché la aiuti a ritrovare il suo amore scomparso, decide di tornare a casa e di unirsi al padre nelle ricerche. Troverà gli abitanti del villaggio sconvolti dallo sterminio che un essere con una forza bruta e un insaziabile desiderio di sangue sta attuando nelle notti di luna piena. Ora, se vuole mettere fine alle stragi nel villaggio e proteggere la donna di cui è da sempre innamorato, Talbot dovrà uccidere la spaventosa creatura che di notte si aggira nei boschi. Ma durante la caccia, l'uomo dal passato tormentato scoprirà un lato primordiale di sé, che non avrebbe mai immaginato di possedere.
