Il perfido e avido agente immobiliare Larry Ditmeyer ha messo gli occhi sulla proprietà dei Brady e ronza insistentemente attorno alla loro casa, col malcelato obiettivo di trasformare l'intero quartiere in un enorme centro commerciale. Ma non c'è somma di denaro che possa convincere Mike, Carol e i ragazzi a trasferirsi, cosicché Dittmeyer non si fa scrupolo alcuno nel sottrarre e nascondere la loro posta, comprese alcune scadenze di pagamento delle tasse sugli immobili. Il risultato è che per salvare la baracca urge trovare al più presto 20.000 dollari, e i numerosi rampolli si mettono subito d'impegno per rastrellare il gruzzolo necessario...
