La storia vede protagonista Ryan Bingham, un manager esperto in risorse umane e riorganizzazione del personale il cui unico divertimento è quello di raccogliere punti nei suoi numerosi voli per raggiungere lo status di "one million frequent flyer miles", obiettivo che persegue meticolosamente visto che passa tutta la sua vita in volo da un aereo all'altro. Quando il suo capo gli chiederà di licenziare la giovane Nathalie capirà che è arrivato il momento di un cambiamento...
