Si narra la storia di Blade (Wesley Snipes), guerriero metropolitano metà uomo e metà vampiro che si propone di sterminare tutti i vampiri esistenti per difendere la razza umana e per vendicare sua madre, morsa da un vampiro poco prima della nascita del nostro eroe. L'acerrimo nemico di Blade è Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff), che, con l'aiuto del computer riesce a tradurre il Libro di Erebo e a scoprire la formula per dare avvio al "Bagno di sangue": giorno in cui ogni uomo del mondo diventa un vampiro.
