Il 7 dicembre 1980, la portaerei americana Nimitz - che partecipa a un'operazione militare nel Pacifico - viene sorpresa da una tempesta magnetica. Quando, tornato il sereno, la Nimitz riprende la navigazione, comandante ed equipaggio scoprono che la tempesta li ha fatti regredire nel tempo, portandoli alla vigilia dell'attacco a Pearl Harbor... Film ispirato a uno dei temi classici della letteratura fantascientifica: i viaggi nel tempo. Ottime la sceneggiatura e la regia, buona la prova degli attori. Ma il punto di forza è il tasso di spettacolarità, specie nelle sequenze in cui navi e aerei sono protagonisti assoluti.
