Cip e Ciop vivono tra i cartoni animati e gli umani nella Los Angeles dei giorni nostri, ma le loro vite ora sono molto diverse. Sono passati decenni da quando la loro serie televisiva di successo è stata cancellata, e Cip ha ceduto a una vita di ordinaria quotidianità di periferia come assicuratore. Ciop, nel frattempo, ha subito un intervento di chirurgia CGI e lavora nel circuito delle convention nostalgiche, alla disperata ricerca di rivivere i suoi giorni di gloria. Quando un ex membro del cast scompare misteriosamente, Cip e Ciop devono ricucire la loro amicizia spezzata e vestire nuovamente i panni di Agenti Speciali per salvare la vita del loro amico.
