Il dottor John Becker è un tipo tutt'altro che facile da trattare... Certo è un medico in gamba e dedito alla sua professione e ai suoi pazienti come nessun altro, però ha un pessimo carattere ed un'espressione perennemente accigliata. Persino i suoi amici più cari, dalla bella barista Reggie al cieco Jake, proprietario del vicino chiosco dei giornali, non sempre riescono a far breccia nella sua dura scorza di misantropo di professione, ma non si arrendono mai perché sanno che, sotto sotto, Becker ha un cuore d'oro.
