Batman of the Future

La serie è ambientata approssimativamente 40 anni dopo la fine di Batman, cavaliere della notte e vede Bruce Wayne ritiratosi a vita privata e non più a capo della sua azienda, diretta dal losco Derek Powers (Blight). L'ex difensore di Gotham si era infatti ritirato dalla lotta al crimine durante un'azione per liberare una donna presa in ostaggio, allorquando puntò una pistola contro uno dei rapitori. Vergognatosi del proprio comportamento decise che non avrebbe mai più indossato i panni di Batman. Vent'anni dopo il destino fa incontrare il giovane studente ribelle Terry McGinnis (figlio di Warren McGinnis, dipendente della Wayne Tech), e l'anziano miliardario, che lo salva da una banda di Jokers (teppisti che idolatrano l'arcinemico Joker). Grazie al ragazzo, Wayne, scopre che Powers sta vendendo un potente gas nervino, a potenti di altri paesi e che il padre del ragazzo lo aveva scoperto pagando con la vita. Il ragazzo, desideroso di vendetta e infastidito dal rifiuto di Wayne di aiutarlo, ruba la tuta di Batman e la usa per sventare i piani criminali di Derek Powers. La notte dopo l'aereo col gas viene dirottato, e Wayne fa visita a Terry in casa sua, chiedendogli di sbrigare delle commissioni per lui. Da allora il ragazzo diventa Batman del futuro, il nuovo difensore di Gotham, seppur con notevole difficoltà, riuscirà a farsi aiutare e accettare da Barbara Gordon, che ha preso il posto del padre nella polizia di Gotham in qualità di commissario.
