La corazzata Yamato

In un lontano futuro, la guerra fra la razza umana e gli alieni conosciuti come Gamilons ha completamente distrutto la Terra. Asteroidi radioattivi hanno devastato il pianeta rendendo la sua atmosfera inabitabile. In un tentativo di salvare la Terra, la regina Starsha del pianeta Iscandar offre alle forze terrestri una tecnologia in grado di neutralizzare totalmente le radiazioni. Per poter recuperare questa tecnologia, la corazzata spaziale Yamato, costruita sulla base dei resti di un relitto della seconda guerra mondiale, viene fatta partire per lo spazio in un viaggio verso un luogo distante 148.000 anni luce. L'equipaggio della Yamato ha un solo anno terrestre per giungere a Iscandar e tornare sulla Terra, o la razza umana si estinguerà.

1La ricerca di IscandarNel 2199 la Terra subisce un continuo e massiccio bombardamento di asteroidi radioattivi, provenienti dall'ostile pianeta Gamilon al cui comando c'è il Supremo Desslock. Ben presto, l'intero pianeta diviene un deserto radioattivo e l'intera popolazione terrestre è costretta a rifugiarsi nel sottosuolo. L'unica speranza per l'umanità consiste nel raggiungere il pianeta Iskandar e recuperare il Cosmo DNA (un meccanismo in grado di eliminare la radioattività), offerto dalla Regina Starsha. Per questo viaggio viene scelta la nave da battaglia della seconda guerra mondiale Yamato, che giace incagliata sul fondale di un mare ormai prosciugato. La Yamato, ribattezzata Argo, viene trasformata in una nave spaziale e dotata di un equipaggio di 117 uomini, che guidati dall'esperto capitano Avatar dovranno raggiungere Iskandar e ritornare entro 365 giorni per garantire alla Terra di tornare ad essere un pianeta abitabile.197426D
2L'impero della CometaNell'anno 2201 la Terra è in pace. Una nuova classe di astronavi, denominate Andromeda, sostituisce le vecchie navi e la Yamato viene mestamente destinata allo smantellamento. Ma un giorno, una voce femminile aliena avverte i terrestri dell'esistenza di una gigantesca cometa bianca che minaccia il loro pianeta. Ancora una volta, sarà la Yamato a dover difendere la Terra da una nuova minaccia: l'Impero della Cometa.197826D
3Le guerre di PolarA causa di una battaglia della Federazione di Polar, avvenuta ai confini del sistema solare (mostrata nei primi episodi della serie), un ordigno nucleare alla deriva finisce sul Sole, aumentandone la fusione nucleare e le sue dimensioni e rendendo la superficie della Terra nuovamente inabitabile a causa dell'aumento del calore solare. L'equipaggio della Yamato, quindi, parte alla ricerca di un nuovo pianeta che possa accogliere i terrestri.198025D
